![]() ![]() Located in a residential neighborhood, its location is confidential and provides comfortable shelter and support for you and your children. Service is available Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with a general on-call service outside of these hours and specific incident response protocols in place regarding serious incidents. If you need immediate safety, ACTS safe house is available anytime day or night. Advocates and volunteer crisis support staff are available to answer questions and provide support for survivors. The Strathcona Shelter Society operates an emergency shelter for women and children, a crisis and family violence information line, provides community outreach. Domestic Violence Safe House If you are a victim of domestic violence, help is just a phone call away. If children do not live with you and/ or are in care we will still work to support you in a parenting capacity should you choose this. Our safe house serves survivors who are immediately fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault and/or human trafficking. The SafeHouse Center HelpLine is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to answer calls from survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. You may be asked to keep the location a secret. If you have children and they are living with you, then a member of our children’s support team will follow up with you and the children, to assess the children’s needs and identify what supports they might need. Shelters and safe housing programs make everyones safety their first priority. If accepted for a Safe Home, a member of our support team will meet with you to carry out an assessment of your needs, and develop an individual support plan based on identified supports including risk and safety, health and wellbeing, finance and social welfare, legal and court accompaniment.
